Weekend Part II

Chipotle was tasty. We made it just in time to Kilby Court to see a song and a half of Shark Speed. And Dear and the Headlights were awesome! They played songs from their two studio albums, "Drunk Like Bible Times" and "Small Steps, Heavy Hooves." The lead singer at the beginning said he wanted to have fun because he hadn't had any in about a week. And fun we did have. The indie rock band from Phoenix know how to put on an energetic live set. The crowd sang along to several of the songs. It was one of those moments where you look around and everyone is there united for the same reason and it creates a sense of unity. That's what music is supposed to do. Then as soon as that second passes we all begin to judge each other based solely on appearance and what they are wearing. But hey, we can't change the world in one night right?
If you haven't listened to Dear and the Headlights, buy their music here. And here is a video of a song that I hadn't heard before, but that they played and I loved. Enjoy!

I needed that

Last night was amazing! After everything that's happened the past few weeks and how busy I've been, I needed a night to really go out. The night started with the opening of a new art exhibit at the HFAC and then on to dinner at Communal, a new, trendy restaurant that opened in Provo a few weeks ago. Vanessa treated us to dinner! I got steak and we shared a salad and squash. This is by far my new favorite spot in Provo. You have to make reservations ahead of time and it's quite pricey, but totally worth it! As we were waiting for our table and sitting right next to the window that overlooks University Ave., I thought of how much Communal gives off the feel of being a restaurant in downtown Manhattan. I loved it!
Then we headed off to Velour for the first night of its annual Cowboys and Indies show, mainly to see Shark Speed. It's been a while. Saw lots of people I knew and had a good time. Kaneischa came and found us up front and we danced and had a blast to Shark Speed. That was probably the most fun I've had in a while. We then headed over to Muse for DJ NAUM and Red Spectral of EDP's CD release dance party. It was my first EDP experience and I loved it! Muse was packed with a wide variety of people, all of them there to dance and have a good time! It was a blast. We danced until a little after 12 and then Vanessa and I headed to Spark and she got us free fries and drinks. Free Shirley Temples! Then we headed home around 1, exhausted! I slept until about 11 this morning, but it was great! It was a wonderful start to the weekend.
Chipotle, Shark Speed [again] and Dear and the Headlights await tonight!!

"It's the first day of spring...

and my life is starting over again."
Getting out of a relationship can be tough, but the emptiness that resided in me for a few days afterward quickly gave way to a world of opportunities.

Last week I made a spur of the moment trip to IKEA and as I wandered through the store wishing I had an infinite supply of money, a sudden burst of excitement came over me. Looking at all the neat home decorations and thinking of the many different ways I could add even more character to my room, I quickly thought of the endless opportunities and possibilities that lay ahead of me in life. And I got excited to decorate my life.

Here's a list of the end tables, lamps and picture frames that inspire and excite me.

1. The idea of meeting "the one" and the hope that she's out there somewhere. BOO dating but I'll find her.
2. I don't know if it's possible, but music has taken on an even greater meaning.
3. So excited about New York. Keep your fingers crossed.
4. Focus. Focus. Focus. [Current jobs, hobbies, school, friendship, family]
5. freedom. I can do what I want, when I want.
No more pressure.
7. I bought InDesign last week and am so excited for the things I will be able to create.
8. Can't wait to go home for Christmas and kick it with my family.
9. Focusing on my career is good and living out my dream without outside pressures or worries.
10. This song:

Ra ra ooo la la Gaga

I don't know what it is about this girl that I find so enthralling. She's like one of those moments where you want to turn away but you just can't. I was hooked from the first time I heard that catchy chorus from "Poker Face." And then I realized that it was the same girl from "Just Dance." Her new video for "Bad Romance" just came out. It's scary and creepy but I couldn't turn away. I just bought the download...

Her music is catchy {dirty} and dance-driven. A friend said she is like a musician from the future. She combines music and art. Everywhere she goes people turn and look. She's probably one of the only pop stars that I actually admit to liking [several that I won't admit to...]

I like this performance on Ellen [I don't like her outfit]

"Let the wild rumpus begin!"

I stood on a chair and screamed that to begin our front page meeting at The Daily Universe on Halloween. And then we said a prayer. (Photo by Stephanie Siggard)
